Who's going to make which prototype
We are now nearly at the stage of making oars, when we have settled whether to use inboards and thus whether we are making 4.5m oars or 4.3m ones. I'm mildly in favour of small inrigger blocks and 4.3m oars because they are lighter, cheaper, and the bow can be the same as 2 and 3. Comments please.
Don Currie in New Zealand has volunteered for doing a hollow oar and I am up for a solid one with a trapezoidal outboard of Western Red Cedar and a ply blade.
Rory Cowan of Arran is also volunteering to make oars and test them on unsuspecting Clyde rowers. Elsewhere on the forum I will post a suggestion from Don Currie and Robert Graham on pins.
If anyone wants to design or make a prototype now is the moment to declare your interest and say what design you are going for.
