Hi Finlay,
Great that you have registered. Stuart, you and I are the first three. By the end of this week I will put the surveymonkey results up and try to put some documents also. There is a Dropbox folder too.
Cheers, Topher.

Re: Welcome to the forum
Hi Topher, sorry about the delay in registering, life's been hectic starting a new boat!
For those who don't know me I'm involved with both the Seil and Glasgow clubs and have built a few boats over the years. I'm a former lawyer and live in Kilmelford.

Hi Ian, Colin and John. Welcome to the forum and have a look around to see the structure of it. We can make new threads if new subjects come up.

Hi Don,
I've always wondered, if antipodean means a location on the opposite side of the world, does podean mean adjacent? Hi, I'm your new podean, kind of thing?
Ali Grant tells me you made a self feathering oar which she like rowing with. I'd be fascinated to hear how it works.
Re: Welcome to the forum
Hi Topher - so many questions - I'm still trying to work out how to make oars and you're wondering what I should call my neighbours! I'm pretty sure I know what they'll call me if I make oars late into the night! Yep, I'll scan some of the rough drawings I've done on the feathering oar, and post them on/in the drop box.
All the best

Hi Don,
Thanks for doing that! What I'm really curious about is what you think of the assumptions in the post "What can we agree about?".

Hi Lorrie,
Welcome to the forum. Have a look at "What can we all agree on?" which is a topic in Oar Shafts, and comment from your experience. You may also be interested to read the results of the survey of clubs in the Survey section.

Hi Clayton,
Welcome to the forum. Have a look round, and also in the Dropbox folder which has a link on the home page of this forum. A good place to start is under oar shafts "What can we agree on?".
We are also trying to collect information on current successful oars, and yours are pretty good. The form to use is in the Dropbox folder, then oars, then oar documents, called Oar measurement form. It would be really helpful if you could measure your best set of oars and send me the info. What we already have is also in the folder, and it is called "oar comparisons November 2106".

Re: Welcome to the forum
Hi Alasdair,
Well done for overcoming all the barriers that seem to exist. Have a look round, and also in the Dropbox folder which I hope is mentioned on the home page.
The first post to start with is "What can we agree on?" in the Oar shafts category, and if you have comments please post them.
Also at some point it would be great if you could add to the sum of our knowledge by dowlnloading the oar measurement form (in the Dropbox folder) and filling it in for Avoch's oars. I'm asking all the cubs with decent oars to do this so we know what we are aiming at.
