This oar has been made by Don Currie in new Zealand.

Design 12 4.3m 74x56 Hollow outboard Alaskan Yellow Cedar/ply oar

The Unbalanced Handle Force (UHF) @ gearing of 2.8 = 2.27kg

Total weight = 5kg and deflection at 10kg at 2.5m =49mm which is very stiff.

Build time 25 skilled hours. Cost of timber about £60.

This oar is stiff and fairly light to row with. It will be very strong. It is harder to make than a solid oar.
